Wet Electrostatic Precipitator Troubleshooting - How to improve WESP Performance
The SonicKleen™ WESP technology is installed on competitor's WESPs to improve their existing equipment. TurboSonic has a proven track record of equipment upgrades that has helped clients meet compliance, improve performance and equipment reliability. Each upgrade is customized for the specific application; the degree of improvement realized is dependant upon existing equipment and operating conditions.
Pre-scrubber Upgrades
Improving the pre-scrubbing efficiency of a WESP system is a great way to increase overall WESP performance.
Typical Performance Issues
- Insufficient particulate removal
- Incomplete gas conditioning
- Excessive water carryover
Replacing low efficiency pre-scrubbers with greater efficiency systems such as the TurboVenturi , and the Turbotak Atomizing scrubber has helped clients improve the performance of their existing equipment.
Power Supply Upgrades
Many WESP systems installed before 2003 have conventional Transformer Rectifier power supplies. Replacing this technology with state-of-the-art Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) can improve performance; an increase of 25% in secondary voltage operation has been demonstrated. Replacing your T/R can improve performance, reduce operating costs and bring your equipment into compliance with operating permits.
Discharge Electrodes
The SonicCharge Rigid Mast Electrode has demonstrated industry leading field intensities. SonicCharge also maintains field voltage and corona even during flushing cycles. The SonicCharge design can be installed into other WESP designs to improve performance and reliability.
TurboSonic Insulator Compartment
Improper insulator compartment designs require regular cleaning. The SonicKleen insulator compartment design places the insulator away from the gas stream, keeping the insulators clean and avoiding damage. This design can be installed into other WESPs to improve reliability and reduce maintenance.
System Outlet Demisting
The patented TurboSonic Hood Mist Eliminator (HME) virtually eliminates droplet carryover, avoids the need for costly external mist eliminator housings and media, and associated high pressure drops. The only maintenance free mist eliminator for WESP systems.
