TURBOSONIC TECHNOLOGIES, INC. (OTC Bulletin Board – TSTA), a leading provider of clean air technologies, today announced the receipt of a US$2 million contract for the design and supply of SO₂ abatement equipment for Essroc Italcementi’s Martinsburg, West Virginia plant. This is the second contract awarded to TurboSonic this fiscal year by Italcementi for this plant, the first of which was for a SoniCool™ Evaporative Cooling System, announced in July 2008. Italcementi is one of the world’s largest producers and distributors of cement, with operations in twenty-two countries worldwide.

This latest contract is for TurboSonic’s TurboSorb Semi-Dry Absorption (SDA) technology for the reduction of SO₂ emissions - a major concern worldwide because of the hazardous health effects (respiratory illness) and negative environmental impact, such as acid rain, which occurs when SO₂ is emitted to the atmosphere. TurboSorb SDA technology uses TurboSonic’s patented Turbotak spray atomization technology for effective control of acid gas emissions, which has been employed in the waste incineration and power generation industries. Equipment is scheduled for delivery this calendar year.
