Position
Description
Office Location: Waterloo,
ON
Reporting to: Engineering Manager
The
Project Manager works within
a team environment and is responsible for execution of senior
management-approved orders for air pollution control systems, including
initiating, planning and controlling the full scope of the project, in
accordance with the Project Management Milestone Chart.
The Project Manager will participate with
senior management in negotiating and monitoring progress with
customers,
vendors, consultants, and internal personnel to ensure timely
completion of the
project, within the approved budget, and ensuring customer
satisfaction. The
Project Manager will participate in a weekly review of project
performance with
the Engineering Manager and senior management.

Duties
Responsibilities include:

Project
management, including the development of the
Project Management Milestone Chart, specifically noting the cash flow
projections (e.g., customer invoicing and vendor payment dates),
ensuring that
TurboSonic’s net cash flow remains positive at all times. The
Project Manager
will be responsible for cost control of the approved project,
application of
company standards, preparation of operating and maintenance manuals,
and
conducting training seminars for customer.

Coordinates
drafting, QA, field services, external
consultants and purchasing functions to ensure project schedules are
met.
- Maintains
complete and accurate records and
documentation. All communications with vendors must be in writing. The
vendor’s
contract must contain similar penalty clauses to those to which
TurboSonic is
obligated. Failure
by the vendor to
deliver equipment in good quality and on time will not be acceptable
and must
not result in a cost to TurboSonic. Any quality issues and/or delivery
delays
will result in back charges to the vendor. The Project Manager will
report on
vendor progress and will keep management informed of problems at such
times as
they may occur.
- Communicates
with customer during the course of the
project. All customer requests must be in writing; verbal
communications cannot
be acted upon without written approval by the customer. Requests by the
customer for additional drawings, equipment, consultants, site visits,
etc.,
must be in writing and the customer must be advised of the costs
associated
with such requests and advised, in writing, of the back charge cost.
Any such
charges must have written approval by the customer before being acted
upon. It
is critical that any customer requests for equipment delivery delays be
received in writing, in order to ensure that TurboSonic does not incur
financial penalties. In such cases, the customer must adhere to the
original
invoicing schedule, the request for delays cannot negatively impact the
cash
flow.
- May require
25-30% travel. Travel
flexibility required for site meetings with customers for
progress review, HAZOP meetings, equipment start-up and optimization.
- Other duties as
assigned.

Qualifications
- B.Sc. Engineering – Chemical or
Mechanical.
- Eligible for registration as Professional
Engineer of Ontario.
- 3+ years experience as a Project Manager.
- Must be
proficient in current computer operating
systems and software, including Microsoft Office, database, project
management,
scheduling and specialized software packages.
- Familiar with equipment fabrication and
installation of industrial equipment.
