Applications Technologist- Air Pollution Control Systems

  

Position Description

Office Location:  Waterloo, ON
Reporting to:  Sales Proposals Manager


The Applications Engineer/Technologist – Air Pollution Control Systems works in a team environment and is responsible for performing engineering design and proposal preparation of custom air pollution control solutions for prospective clients under the day-to-day direction of the Sales Proposals Manager.

The Applications Engineer/Technologist is the Sales Proposals Manager’s key engineering resource for timely response to client inquiries. Accuracy and completeness of technical data will be used along with budget cost estimates provided by the company’s Chief Estimator for all projects to generate high quality sales proposals.
 
 

Duties

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparation of project proposals incorporating engineering designs for air pollution control systems and for the submission of the proposals to the Sales Proposals Manager for review and approval.
  • Review, interpretation and produce standard industrial process flow and instrumentation diagrams.
  • Active participation in the technical review of the customer’s inquiry.
  • Contact with the customer to evaluate process requirements and confirm location of new equipment.
  • Follow-up on installed equipment with customers, to ensure that complete satisfaction was achieved, provide advice to customers on future service calls, and confirm spare parts requirements.
  • Aftermarket sales support, including preparation of quotes and sales follow-up.
  • Travel will be required to client sites, typically in Canada and USA, to support sales activities including site evaluations, equipment commissioning and optimization, service inspections, and to participate in pilot testing at customer facilities.
 
 

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of air pollution control, industrial processes, boilers and incinerators as well as ancillary equipment such as pumps, fans, air compressors, and water treatment systems would be an asset.
  • Must be proficient in current computer operating systems and software i.e. Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
